I guess its a profession that traditionally used analogue technology where there was a significant learning curve needed to gain the required technical skills to produce a result which meant that during this process users also learnt creative techniques and professional skills. It also imposed a timeline which had delays which meant a chance to consider. Digital technology cuts this all out.
