Not the sun kissed granite climbing mecca but the Mac OS X operating system.

I'm currently running Lion (10.7) on a 2009 iMac with 8Gb of RAM. Is it worth upgrading?

I know there's two revisions between the two but a software program that I'm going to need to use requires 10.8 (Mountain Lion) at least.

I started a thread when Yosemite was launched asking if an upgrade was worthwhile - might be worth a look

If you install it, do a clean install from scratch, not an upgrade. When I first tried Yosemite I tried the upgrade option but it caused huge problems and trashed the performance of both my Macs. More recently I have performed a clean install if 10.10.3, which is stable so far.

Is it worth upgrading? Depends if you like the new look. Your Mac probably won't be able to take advantage of the new features in Yosemite, so it's mainly a cosmetic change. If you can get hold of Mavericks 10.9 that might be a better and potentially more stable choice for your Mac.
