Hi,
My friend Shyam has been a guide in Nepal for many years, we have been friends for over 16 years and talk as often as we can.
I was devastated to hear about the quake last week and had 4 days of worry while I waited for his reply.
He was leading a group of 12 Malaysians in the langtang area, which was badly hit.
The link below is a story from one of the group members who says he owes his life to Shyam and his family team.

He is now trying to help raise money for him and his family as his home was also struck, Namdu in Dolakha, and is not safe to live in anymore.

Please donate and share this story if you can.

You can also donate to the British Red Cross for their Nepal appeal by texting 'EARTHQUAKE' 70600 to give £10.

Thanks for reading
Daryl

In reply to Geodaryl:

Thank you for drawing attention to this. A harrowing but excellent account. I too have close friends in Kathmandu, and they in turn are very firm friends with many of the folk of the Langtang valley, many of whom they now fear lost. I will send this to them in case it hasn't reached them. I have had a photo from them which shows the village of Langtang itself has been obliterated. They too are fundraising for immediate family currently alive but stranded in remote valleys. Thanks again.

In reply to Martin Bennett:
Thanks for the reply.
My friends village (Namdu) is to the east of kathmandu, halfway to Everest region, in the Dolakha region. I am led to believe that langtang village is completely lost.
Unfortunately the media are only interested in kathmandu and base camp.
I hope to visit him again later this year and let him put me to work!
