Looking to try and tick a good few routes around the 6c/6c+ grade range before moving on to a few 7a routes I'd like to climb later in the year, any recommendations?

I live in cardiff, so anywhere around there, but willing to travel for something particularly special!

Thanks in advance!

The Gap Dinas Rock Witches Point
There are plenty of routes at 6c and 6c+
Hanging by a thread at Witches Point is the best 6c in the area

I was going to say all of the above.

Take a look at the South Wales Mountaineering Club wiki. They have a good section on South Wales sandstone, highlighting the best crags.

Thanks guys, my plan was to tick a few of the routes at the gap, then get super tramp done at tirpentwys, then move on to bristol beat 7a at taffs well west.

Nice to know there is more at witches point than just the temple bay stuff.

Don't suppose you guys know what the deal is the they belays on the routes in temple bay, seems like you could top out if you wanted, and there's no double belay points, just a single larger staple as far as I could see. slightly off topic I know.

Will deffo go and find Hanging by a thread, sounds awesome, just got to work out exactly where it is

Thanks for the advice both!

Most of the South Wales sport climbing is covered by: www.sportsclimbs.co.uk

Nearly all the sports routes in the temple inlets have double bolt abseil stations. Some do top out but there are bolts to belay from.
Bristol Beat is really easy for 7a and is only about 6 moves.
Western Front Direct (7a) this is probably the best 7a on South Wales sandstone and close to Cardiff.
Navigation Quarry should also be on your list.

I'd recommend Ghengis Khan at Taffs Well.
