Thinking about a first trip to Portland - going today til wednesday as weather looks a bit windy for Swanage - can anyone advise re crags - weather conditions campsites and good pubs etc

Hi Ciderslider! We met at the top of Subliminal the other day. The rule of thumb with Portland is that when it's blowing a south westerly (which it normally is) the best bet is either the Cuttings or Cheyne Wears on the east coast. Coastguard and Wallsend are not the best until the sun gets round (usually from 1ish) as some of the holds are wet/greasy.

Hi,

Just looked at the forecast and the conditions will be good on the west coast for the next couple of days; sunny with a bit of a south westerly breeze. Should be great. Probably out myself on Wednesday when the conditions will be good on the East coast with a south easterly and lots of sun.
