Could anybody recommend a decent campsite for a small tent in Northumberland. I am looking to stay in the Belford/Wooler area. I could also look to the Crag Lough area.

Many thanks

I can't help you with Belford but for Crag lough and Peel crag climbing you need http://www.winshields.co.uk/

About a minute from The Twice Brewed Inn and about 15 minutes walk from the climbing below Hadrians Wall....on superb Dolerite, though it needs to be dry!

Try www.bluebellfarmbelford.co.uk they have some camping plus bunk house and some wooden huts for hire. In Belford Village on the road out towards Bowden Doors, 2 minutes from shop and chippy and 4 minutes from the pub (i.e. a near perfect location).

Alternatively there is a much larger campsite near the beach at Warren Mill which is about 2 or 3 miles from Belford on the BB1342 Belford to Bamburgh Road. http://www.budlebaycampsite.co.uk/touring-camping/

There is another site about half a mile beyond Warren Mill towards Bamburgh.

Bluebell farm is magic for Bowden/Kyloe

Cheap and well sheltered with good facilities.

Chippy is ace, pubs ok. Co-op opposite

OOPS, forgot about Wooler, try http://www.riverside-wooler.co.uk/ or highburn-house.co.uk, haven't used either of these, they may be glamping rather than camping.

Highburn House is the right kind of place, it's used for the BMC festival. Not been myself, but they've been back so it must be OK.

Highburn is a good campsite. Small tents are kept away from the caravanners and the toilet/ showerblock is usually spotless. 5 minute walk from a good selection of pubs and shops.
