I'm sure this has been asked before but I couldn't find a thread...is there phone reception for texts on the Glacier du Geant (Vallee Blanche(?)). I guess it depends where u are to an extent and what network but generally speaking, surely the illegal camping summer army must have an idea

Full 3G usually. Might even be 4G but my phone doesn't do that. Only ever had a problem in that area when I was 12m down a crevasse near the Adolphe Rey but still probably had enough signal for texts.

25 years ago I was camping in the Vallee Blanche and one evening had to walk all the way up to the telepherique station to make a call on the public phone there. Hour and a half round trip for one short call, how things have changed.

if you walk over to the Cosmiques hut it will be pinned on the wall inside.
