Creating an App

I have an idea for an App that I want to create. Originally it will be for iOS and then possibly for Android afterwards if it is successful. Does anybody know how to create an app or know of any good software that is suitable for a beginner?

Also any other tips, pointers etc are appreciated.

Can you program at all?

Appcelerator is a good place to start.

If you can program Java and have done some Windows programming (or similar), Android development isn't hard. You can download Android Studio from Google, or a plug-in for Eclipse.

Do not underestimate the cost of getting apps on to the Appstore. Getting things on to Google Play is much cheaper.

if you're not a developer then Appcelerator is a good choice (as per shani's suggestion).

If you are a developer then it comes down to : do you want to write separate, native, apps for each platform or write in a common solution (eg .net/mono, html5).

Not in the slightest. It needs to be idiot proof really.

It might require a bit of trust, but it sounds to me that there are perhaps people skills on here that could help you with your idea.
( I'm also assuming it is climbing walking related)
Not expecting an answer on that last bit , I don't want to pry.
