I think it may have been that incident that pulled the scales from my eyes, and finally allowed me to see the propaganda I'd been subjected to, growing up, for what it was. A process started by leaving home for university, and getting away from the Daily Mail my parents read, which depicted travellers as evil, skiving dole scum. That incident and the miner's strike (Scargill excepted: he was right about the government's intentions, but he was still a tw*t). And I learned that what the BBC said wasn't impartial, and didn't always tally with my interpretation of their selected footage.
