Off to try Malta for a mixture of beach (fingers crossed) and crags in November and would appreciate any advice as to where to be based. We'll have a car and intend to go over to Gozo at least once but the island seems small enough to get around easily.

The Sea Bank at Melieha Bay is quite nice and next to one of the few sand beaches.

Never climbed there, but I think the crags are at that end of the island.

Hi,

The island is very small, so distances are not really an issue. Having said that, driving in Malta is "interesting" as there are quite a few cars on a pretty small road network. Still having a car is worth it. Choosing where to stay is more about how / where you want to spend your evenings. Here you have a choice ranging from quiter outlying towns to the all night parties in Paceville.
Depending on your needs, there is accommodation that caters especially for climbers plus will give you access to local knowledge that could mean the difference between a good trip and a great trip.

Feel free to PM me if you want more info / suggestions.
Paul
