I seem remember a book being published a few years ago that I could now do with.

I think it was a guide to doing the Mountain Leaders Award written by a Plas y Brenin instructor and it basically had everything you needed to know to pass the ML course. It wasn't the official book but something a bit more informal.

Does anybody know the name of this book?

Thanks.

I think you're thinking of the official one: http://www.mountain-training.org/publications/hill-walking

That's the official one.
The latest edition of Langmuir's Mountaincraft and Leadership is also very good.

I found the one I was after by ringing Plas y Brenin:
Nature of Snowdonia: A Beginner's Guide to the Upland Environment by Mike Raine

Thanks for your suggestions though.
