Lol! I'm over 3000 miles away now!

Excellent initiative though, and one that will hopefully sort out better access to this section of coastline. Thanks Alan and Ben.

Good work, guys! I'll be pre-ordering mine shortly.

Can we have a funicular cliff lift (like the one at Lynmouth), cable car or ski lift for £2k

A couple of thoughts:

Obviously the normal descent path to Battleship is a deathtrap. Unless you're au fait with recent developments at Portland, you won't know that. Rush merrily down the hillside and it's a skateboard to oblivion. A couple of weeks back, I met a highly experienced, competent pair who'd retreated from said skateboard. A notice on top would alert people. In general, I'm against notices. But compare with the five or so relating to the Church Ope turnoff; this one could save a life.

The overhangs above the Neddyfield bouldering have been ready to collapse for years. Dozens of people walk by each day. Maybe hundreds at weekends. I'm the only one who ever looks up. (I always look up!) It's just a question of time. Probably a little more freeze/thaw.

Those would be my two biggest worries.

Is there a way to make a direct donation rather than buying the new guide?

Hmm, interesting suggestion which I hadn't thought of. Since the money is going through the BMC ACT then you could just make a donation direct to that but it wouldn't necessarily get targeted - https://www.thebmc.co.uk/bmc-access-conservation-trust

I shall ask the question.

Cheers

Alan

Just found a way of doing it - bizarre but it works.

Buy the New Dollywaggon PDF which is free - http://www.rockfax.com/climbing-guides/miniguides/new-dollywagon/

And then you get the option of making a donation towards the BMC ACT, which comes to us initially. I will be keeping a check on all those donations and then forwarding them for this project exclusively in a single payment.

I will look at making something a bit smoother though.

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

Done. £10 into whatever is deemed the best way forward. Was down at the Veranda last night and I can imagine the path being quite daunting in anything less than bone-dry conditions.

Done and thanks for everyone for their thoughts to organise. Would be happy to come and lend my labour one weekend if there was an organised clean up day.
