Heading up the Ben early tomorrow morning, wondering if any one has been on or near North East buttress for a heads up on current conditions. Would prefer summer nick, but will have all bases covered(crampons, axes, etc).
Cheers
I drove through the Highlands twice last week and was generally surprised at the amount of snow on northerly aspects for the time of year. Unfortunately the Ben was well shrouded so I can't say for definite, but I would expect a fair bit. Still, sounds like you'll be well prepared have a good un. If the cloud lifts before you depart, this may help: http://www.visitfortwilliam.co.uk/about-ben-nevis-in-fort-william-and-ben-n...
Was out on North East almost a week ago. The ridge itself was pretty much entirely snow free. Still a healthy amount on the plateau/ in coire leis though!
Thanks to all who replied. Hiding in my tent in lochy campsite from ravenous midges.
Got a few brief glimpses through the mist earlier this evening, looks good.
Cheers
