Hi there,

so, I have found that pretty dated newspaper while stripping old ceiling.

It's likely to have all pages but I did not dare to open it up.
Do you think it might hold any value? If so, how can I go round monetising it?

Some pics:

I know that there is aready a library of every publication, including Newspapers, and the process of digitising them is underway. The British Newspaper Archive)

They will already have a pristine copy of this newspaper to digitise , so I can't see the archive being interested, and anyone else will be able to view it online (if not now, pretty soon) http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/

I would have my doubts that there is a commercial value, but I could be wrong.

Interesting. There's the link to "All Quiet on the Western Front." which was banned around that time in Germany. I'm not sure it's particularly valuable but certainly has some value to someone. Try an ebay entry?

I found literally hundreds from the late 1800's early 1900's when I was sorting out the insulation in my roof. They were used as insulation, all laid out perfectly, all excellent condition and couldn't do anything with them so gave them to the local libraries and council offices and framed one for posterity!

Sounds like afacinating find (or is it just me)

But reading through them to find things of interest specifically to you or me would be rather difficult I guess.

I will just wait for the British Newspaper Archive to finish digitising them all, then I can search the entire archive across all the papers online for my specific topics/Family names etc.

(I expect to find some of my relations in the court pages)

Sat down and read them for about 5 hours! Great advertising and a lot random stories from the colonies as well as big game hunters, new islands and tribes found etc etc.

Framed one and I think I've still got about a half dozen others in the garage in storage, really interesting stuff.

You could contact your local primary or secondary schools. They may be useful for modern history lessons. They are primary source material.

I would offer them to a museum as props.

I think that if you search ebay for copies of The Daily Sketch, you may be a little disappointed.

Yeah, I did! No money in there, sadly. Anyways. Willing to post it to someone for postage costs covered. Otherwise will take it to the school nearby.

Thanks!
