My local paper the Otago Daily Times has published an article about a lost diary being found in a camper van . The writer is thought to be British and obviously hill or mountain man. Here is the full article http://www.odt.co.nz/news/queenstown-lakes/348315/diary-mystery-man-found-q...
At the end of diary the writer is obviously back in the north of the UK, so who is he and how did the diary get back to NZ?
That is pretty interesting, I watched Man U vs Bayern Munich in Kathmandu in 1999 after 3 months trekking! But it's not me, never been to NZ and am a Gooner.
That's interesting - thought for a moment it might be one of my diaries. I've been to lots of the places mentioned at around the same times (but with considerably less luck with the ladies!). Enlarging the diary entry photo reveals that he was running/cycling around Killington Lake http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2888127 and The Helm http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4531670 one day and over Scout Scar/River Kent/Kendal the next. He must have been living in or near Kendal.
He named a Warden in a specific area, I guess they have already contacted the Warden for any info he might have, and come up with nothing, which is bad luck.
In reply to RichardMc: I may be making a silly suggestion , but cant the vans number plate be followed up to find previous owners from the registration documents ? Or maybe that's been tried.
Sheeeit! Where did they find that? If Mrs RR gets to hear about all my pre-wedding exploits she's going to kill me! For years she's believed I just went on a last batchelor finding-myself trip....
