I currently live in italy and need to get climbing insurance. The problem is that most want you to get it before leaving the UK. Does anyone know of any that you can get while living abroad?

OeAV insurance works everywhere. And becomes valid right after you've paid it. I believe quite a few others are alike (where the insurance is always part of the membership fee).

Are you living in Italy for more than 90 days? If not, you could use the BMC website to arrange cover, just mark down that you are normally resident in the UK.

Otherwise, the Club Alpino Italiano have policies. You could email them - assicurazioni at cai.it

Do you speak Italian? If not, it may be difficult. Italian bureaucracy is an absolute pain in the ass!
