My brother and I recently (June 30) revisited Harrison's Rocks (invited by our old school climbing club - John and I were among the founder members in 1967!) and were absolutely amazed and delighted to find them in such great condition. A clear testimony to the huge amount of work that's been done by the SVG (Sandstone Volunteers Group) and the BMC, who now owns the crag. This is a huge success story. I was expecting to find the rock very worn and damaged after another quarter of a century of intensive use since I last visited, but it is now in the best condition I have ever seen it, and that includes the wonderful good old days of the late 1960s. The BMC has obviously done a superb job diplomatically, and the SVG with their conservation work. The new approach path is brilliant in its own right. Congratulations to all involved. This something that all southern climbers should be very grateful for.

I've written a short blog about our trip:
