I got to the crag yesterday and when I opened my bag I found that my bottle of liquid chalk had exploded all over my ab rope (lesson learnt: keep liquid chalk in a bag). After scrapping off as much gooey mess as I could I left it in the sun. It had all dried up after a climb and I could beat off most of it but it is still covered in dry chalk. Its a new rope so my question is:

Is there any need to wash the rope? My guess is no but thought I would check.

It won't do any harm to wash it!

It'd survive without a wash but as Mike says, it wouldn't hurt washing it
