Kidney problems from hanging about in a harness

I keep on getting pains in my right kidney with occasional uti. This seems to be associated with hanging about in a harness whether a hanging belay or working a route or running with the dog pulling on a waist line. This hadn't occurred to me until quite recently as a cause! Is this likely to be mere coincidence or has anyone else experienced similar?

It may be that you have an underlying issue, which pressure exacerbates. I'm sure Dr Google would furnish you with a number of horrifying 'possibilities' - i.e. an unfiltered mess of fatal conditions - so I'd say a visit to the quack would be in order.

If we can do a sweepstake, I'd go for kidney stones (only joking: actually, I'd go for muscle strain).

I've been to the quack frequently and nothing except a stricture has been found. The us of the kidney shows it to be normal though. I wonder if the stricture is compressed when wearing a harness but is OK the rest of the time ... Hence why tests have shown things to be normal.. apart from frequent uti.
In reply to JimR:

Is that a stricture of the ureter? In which case, either stop hanging around in a harness (Mmmmmmm, increased renal pelvis pressure....) or get fatter, to put some padding round it.

Either way, it's worth mentioning this phenomenon to the quack.

Yep it's a stricture of the ureter, I'm supposed to be seeing a specialist soon so will mention it then.

Might a body harness be worth considering?

Or a corset!

It is rather unlikely hanging in the harness is doing much to give you kidney pain. The stricture on the ureter on the other hand is more likely to be the culprit causing you recurrent UTIs. Could it be you are getting more dehydrated working the routes? Is there any back pressure on the kidney causing it to swell? That may make it more tender as well.

In reply to JimR:

Not medical advice but to help avoid the pain whilst climbing maybe try and avoid hanging belays and employ direct belays when suitable?
