Hi everyone. I hurt my back, ended up with a discectomy and I am looking forward to getting my life back. I have accepted I wont be the same again, but wondering if I can get back to where I was climbing. At my peak I was sport climbing in the mid 7's - i don't think the climbing itself is likely to be that risky (except tight undercuts, etc.) but I am not so sure about taking lead falls. I have looked around on the internet and can't find much about climbing post-op. Anyone have any encouraging stories to share?

Cheers,

Chris

That's what I wanted to hear I'll take it steady, but hopefully I'll get back to where I was. Thanks for the reply!

Had an L4/5 keyhole discectomy shortly after I started climbing and, after retraining my core muscles to protect my back, haven't really worried about it since.
Maybe some practice falls at the wall would help once you've got your fitness back.
