Hi this is the first time I have used a forum to see what suggestions people can offer. Myself and my partner have a trip to Sardina booked from 12 September to 20th September. Purpose of our trip to do some sport climbing out there and hoping to do some snorkelling. I went many years ago and went to an area called Cala Gonone. We will typically be climbing anything from 5+ up to 6b/6c. Two questions I would like people to share there opinion on and may be share contacts. Q1. Is Cala Gonone still a good place to base ourselves. Q2. It is proving challenging to find accommodation! We want to rent an appartment from 12th to 20th September - ideally near the sea and a few shops for groceries, double bed, outside seating area I.e balcony/garden terrace, kitchen, and of course parking as we are renting a car. Does anyone have any recommendations for places to rent/any contacts. We are not committed to renting in Cala Gonone so if anyone has suggestions for elsewhere they would be welcomed to. Many thanks for the advice. Nicola

I rented a small apartment for a few days earlier this year for a climbing trip to Cala Gonme. Found it on the climb europe website - the guy was very friendly, easy distance from the town centre for food and price was cheap. Chap is called Salvatore and his email is sallai69@tiscali.it

A group of us went in June and stayed in a wooden cabin in Cala Gonone campsite. It was pretty cheap and in an ideal position. It had a double bed, ensuite bathroom with a great shower, an outside kitchen area under cover and seating etc. Pretty perfect for what we wanted but it could be viewed as basic I guess!
It was a great base to explore some different areas as well as the sport climbing close by.

Cala Gonone still a great base for climbing- especially if combined with snorkelling (& beaches & bars! Car gets you easy access to Surtana, Monte Oddeu, Punta Cusidore and (less easily) Baunei, as well as the local crags. Boat trip gets you to the Aguglia at Cala Goloritze and Cala Luna. Have stayed here a few times:

Very nice with all you need but possibly too big /expensive for two of you unless you can get a discount? Plenty of other accommodation on HL website.
Buona vacanza!

A group of us had an excellent 2 weeks climbing back in April, based in Cala Gonone, at these apartments:

Has everything you need/listed, and was reasonably cheap. Also the owner was very helpful and took on board several minor things to improve the venue, that we suggested after our stay. I put a review on TripAdvisor, but it isn't listed on the HL website.
The good crags are just a few minutes drive away, and the supermarket, panetteria, ice cream shop, and bars are only 5 minutes walk away!
Hope that helps.

Just checked the URL in my email (which I checked a couple of hours ago when I first posted it!) and it's now not listed on Holiday Lettings, but it is still listed on this one, this time with my review....
