What is the max resolution of an image you can post on UKC?

In the 2005 article [1] is says 'around 1000px'.

On the Help page [2] it says either 950px wide or 800px high.

However I know you can post larger than this since I've seen some photos which when expanded are 1280px wide. It seems larger still would be preferable as the resolution of screens is always going up and these recommendations were posted 10 years ago when screen sizes were smaller and the internet was slower. Even smartphone screens and cheap tablets can now have resolutions of around 2000px wide.

So what's the max we can post at present?

And for future proofing the site, if it is only 1280px, wouldn't it be a good idea to make that bigger since in a few years we'll probably all be using 4000px wide monitors and 1000px photos will look small and a bit rubbish. That would be a great shame as there are some really excellent pics on here and some are interesting for a historical perspective too.

Maybe these articles need updating too... ?

Size or resolution (as in dpi) ? If you have the ability to, just size it so that the file isn't greater than 250k. I have some images about 1800px wide but they're only 72dpi, so the file is relatively small. I think if you upload an image>250k, it automatically gets shrunk to fit. I'm sure wide landscape images will still remain at their correct proportion.

Ah, its file size that's key then. Thanks for that.
