England in trouble. Aussies 51 ahead with 3 wickets still in hand after three overs this morning. If England end up chasing more than a 100 I think we're stuffed.

Lead up to 69, with a couple of close calls - but yep, starting to get nervous about this game

I wish they'd just finish things off. The weather is nice and I was hoping to get out on the bike after lunch. I even tuned in to 5live early to make sure I didn't miss the early wickets and in the end I was waiting ages for some action.

Lead is now 100 - dare we hope that batting is easier today than on the previous two days

And another wicket falls

265 all out, England need 121 to win

Deafening sound of squeaky rear ends all over the country!

So 121 the target, what could possibly go wrong he says, remembering 1981

We ought to be a bit more positive

Looked like good bowling rather than poor batting, so well down Mitchell Starc!

It's no fun if it's easy!

Probably not - its not like the cupboard is bursting with openers, is it ?
Chris the Tall 31 Jul 2015
In reply to Postmanpat:

I don't want to spread alarm, but just looked on wikipedia to freshen my memories of 1981

Headingly - Aussies slumped from 56-1 to 111 ao to lose by 18
Edgbaston - Aussies slumped from 105-4 to 121 ao to lose by 29

DONT PANIC

Then again, Lyth isn't exactly batting as an opener at the moment.
Chris the Tall 31 Jul 2015
In reply to tony:

Needs to go back to Yorkshire and regain his confidence, but that's the problem with back to back tests.
In reply to Chris the Tall:

Do we need a song about Starc and wides

I am now convinced that I don't need to get the train to Birmingham in the morning Glad I didn't book a ticket!
Chris the Tall 31 Jul 2015
In reply to Graeme Alderson:

Sounds like Johnson is bowling so wide you might just see some play tomorrow !
 Dave Garnett 31 Jul 2015
In reply to Graeme Alderson:

The atmosphere sounds incredible - Mitchell Johnson winding the crowd up and playing the pantomime villain. great stuff!
In reply to Dave Garnett:

Got tickets for day 3 at The Oval, will I get to see any play?
 tony 31 Jul 2015
In reply to Dave Garnett:

Well that went well!

Next up - who's going to replace Anderson?
Lusk 31 Jul 2015
In reply to Graeme Alderson:

Is The Cricketers still closed?
Had many a good time in there

Chris the Tall 31 Jul 2015
In reply to Postmanpat:

MOM - Anderson or Finn (or Bell, or Root)

In reply to Chris the Tall:

It seemed as though it was Moeen who dragged them back from the brink, that seemed to me the most significant contribution
 stonemaster 31 Jul 2015
In reply to Chris the Tall:

One would like to vote for Finn. Engerland, Engerland, Engerland....hic, after a bottle of sparkling shiraz and a bottle of Merlot

The world feels quite all right at the moment.....cheers all
