I am looking for a climbers bible x2. One for all the great UK sites and one for simple to understand, comprehensive technical advice.
I will then buy specific route guides as I choose each climbing holiday.

The latter bible you're looking for might be this:

Bouldering wise you have boulder Britain which covers Most good quality major venues in the UK. Trad wise you will need to buy for specific areas really.

This is old and is done from a humorous angle but can give an overview of many areas if you can get hold of a copy.

I don't remember there being any actual route info but there was a lot about the character and type of climbing in each area. This could be really good if you have no idea what might exist in a given area. Has anyone published something similar in recent years? I would guess that the internet means there isn't really market for such things any longer.
