Layby for camper near Gatwick?

Can anyone recommend a good spot for a few (free) hours sleep in a T5 van before an early flight from gatwick?

At a guess, you are using some form of airport parking having driven there, why not sleep there?

Thanks for the info Jonathan & others for advice.
We got a Travelodge in the end. We're travelling with kayaks, so made it easier (couldn't sleep in car park because would mean leaving to drop off kit in am).
