NEWS: New Scottish Big Wall E4 in Siberia

A plastered tent..., 4 kbScottish duo Simon Smith and Graham Dawson have just returned from a recently discovered granite massif in the Chuvan mountains in Chukotka, North Eastern Russia - coming away with the first ascent of a 300m E4 named Ilium. After a "hair-raising" approach on quad and dirt bikes, the first British expedition to the area encountered wild stormy weather and the unseasonably early onset of winter, plastering the walls in snow and ice.

I managed to get some info from this page on the area:

The team mentioned in the link above, appeared to be the first team to climb there? For them it must have been a slightly nervous trip as to whether these walls really existed. I put the given coordinates into Google Earth and it doesn't seem to hint at any evidence of big walls.

Warner is a mate of mine. Yes, they were the first climbers there. He'd seen a photo here from a non-climbing Russian friend, so knew there were walls there, just not sure how big and what the rock was like.
