Now that French grades below 6a with the suffixes a,b, c - 4c, 5b etc are being used as standard in UKC logbooks a problem arises when entering routes to the database when the guidebook still uses 4, 4+, 5, 5+. If 5 is entered as 5a and 5+ as 5c then there are no 4b or 5b routes. In effect nothing has changed when the guidebook still uses the old system. Is there a way around this?
In reply to Rog Wilko:

Please use your best judgement. If it's a Hard 5 or Easy 5+ then stick it in as 5b.

Or use another grading system (UIAA springs to mind).
In reply to HeMa:

Not quite sure how converting to a different grading system is gonna help.

F5 doesn't equal V and F5+ doesn't equal V+ http://www.ukclimbing.com/logbook/comptable.html

That's all very well but crag moderators won't have done all routes on the crags they moderate.
In reply to Rog Wilko:

Then just use 5a and 5c and let the voting decide.
