Good news.

What effect will it have on:

Planning applications?

House prices?

I'm not sure - house prices were already pretty sky-high in places like Kirkby Lonsdale or the Lyth Valley, on a par with those just a few miles away in both parks. Planning applications? Just consider some of the developments that were suggested for these extensions - major landscape impactors like the Whinash windfarm and the (Westmorland) Borrowdale holiday village.

It means that planning applications will now be within the remit of the national park as apposed to South Lakeland District Council. I expect there will be a rush to get thing through before the change next summer
