Maybe a long shot, but can anyone shed some light on the geography of the Bogger Bob wall, and specifically the lines of Hong Kong Garden and the route entered as Unknown?

In the UKC notes a contributor has suggested starting HKG 9 feet right of Bogger Bob: this sounds to me like it coincides with the start of the newer bolted version of Shin Gi Tai. Presumably (since it's supposed to be a right-to-left line) it follows SGT for a few moves; then breaks up left to cross Bogger Bob at some point, and then climbs the orange wall to the left of that route. That sounds like it must cover the same ground as the upper part of the route Unknown, no?

Hi Brian

One assumes that the inclusion of Unknown in the database is the result of a failure to realise that HKG started to the right of BB and thus appears after it in the guide, although its only fixed gear - and obvious visibility - is in the upper part to the left of that route. So it was always just the top half of HKG with a direct approach up the rubble! As the updated HKG entry suggests, "9 feet right of Bogger Bob" puts you at the old, bold start of Shin Gi Tai - the arete - rather than the current bolted line which uses the original start to HKG. Essentially, the starts of HKG and SGT have now been swapped, thereby retaining some bold climbing for the former - although not on its original line.
