There's a choice of 2 maps, one is 1:30k, the other is 1:25k I think. One of them has Triglav very close to a fold which is well annoying! either are fine, although the Dolomitic steepness of the ground makes contour interpretation tricky.
You could do it in one day but that would be massive - 1700m? ascent. Snow could be a problem, we had 6" down to 1800m the first week of September. If there is snow like that then it will be unpleasant at best and dangerous at worst, the Slovenes seem to have a random method of placing protection on VF - you'll have a protected bit, then an unprotected bit that is just as dodgy if not worse. Unless they're broken, the VF sections are generally better constructed than Italian ones.

If you've been to the Dolomites it's similar, but without the lifts, so days are either _very_ long, or overnighting in the huts is required.
