Anybody been out to either over the weekend - any advice on conditions appreciated?

Thanks in advance
In reply to Shapeshifter:

Churnet is wet, very wet.

I guess you must live in the extreme south-east of England (your profile doesn't say) if you don't know just how bad the weather's been up here over the last four days. Further n/w sounds even worse.

Judging by the weather in Cheshire/NE wales the last few days i doubt Shropshire has faired any better and that Nesscliffe is a no go! I would avoid most sandstone until its drier...

In reply to Gordon Stainforth:

No I live in the NW, but I've been away darn sarf for a bit - guess I've missed quite a bit of rain then. BBC forecast looks a bit drier for tomorrow, so thought I might try one or the other.

Perhaps not then?

In reply to Shapeshifter:

Damp sandstone breaks easily; drenched sandstone even more easily. Holds and gear are much more likely to fail - save yourself the grief and steer clear of the Churnet and Nesscliffe.

The depths of Parisella's cave is probably the only dry option.

In reply to Shapeshifter:

Nesscliffe will be a luminous green sodden mess

Nothing new there then.
