Has anybody had trouble with these in terms of the silver button mechanism.
I haven't used mine in a few months and the sliding part of the upper pole where it engages the silver button seems to have stuck. No movement whatsoever. Tried a little WD40 on it with no success. Poles had been stored folded.
Suggestions welcome.
Thanks.

I had that happen. I think it comes down to surface corrosion of the poles if stored folded. The expansion of the metal effectively seizes them up. I solved it by placing some teflon lubricant at the interface then leaving them upside down for 24hrs so it would seep in. I then grabbed the two ends of the poles with pliers and wriggled it loose (after much effort).

Good luck.

Just had the same problem with mine yesterday. The successful fix (after several different experiments) was to hold the sliver button in with a pair of needle-nosed pliers while giving the top of the grips a good whack with a hammer. The corroded seal failed (after a couple of blows) and the shaft ran freely again.

Hmm interesting, so evidently using brute force will sometimes work. Thanks for the tips
