Hello - newbie here! Am planning on heading down to do Pen Y Fan and then basically the Fan Dance course tomorrow. Is the weather going to be suitable or otherwise?

Many thanks in advance....

Conditions look "spicy" to say the least with gale force winds and some snow and ice...

I don't think I'd recommend it with 70mph gusts!

Brecon Beacons or Beacons, never ever Beacons! As bad as "Peaks".

Forecast now looking ok, possibly some snow down, but it won't last.

Opps, never the Beacons that should be! Anyways, forecast for a lovely walking day, though it will still be very wet underfoot, with little frost to make walking the soggier bits comfortable.

Thanks all. Looks like clear skies at least. Bring them on, whatever they may be known as 🤓😊

Not the Brecons, Brecon is a town the beacons are the hills nearby.

For there to be Brecons we'd need to build a few more towns somehow, this would be difficult considering you'd be building in a national park.
If the weather is windy up top and you haven't visited the area before you could have a nice day walking around all the waterfalls on the fellt, staring in Dinas or Pont felyn fach and making a loop. It's on the same OL map as pen y fan I think. Otherwise try walking up pen y fan not from storey arms.

It's currently snowing in Merthyr, which means it'll definitely be snowing on PyF o/
It's unlikely to stay around for long though, it's only got colder today.

The waterfalls will be a good option if you don't want to go high.

They'll be a couple of routes in nic on the north face of PyF by the morning so pack your crampons and ice axe
