I live about 20 mins from Ailefroide,
Cheapest way is probably fly Turin is the best airport to fly to, and it's a cheep fligh if you book early normally less then £100, you can then get a bus to Turin centre and a train to oulx, and then a bus to briancon, all that cost about 25 euros ( not including flight) then I would hitch to Ailefroide?
This does mean you have to get to stansted uk side?
Depending when you are thinking of coming you could see if you can blag a lift out, in the spring summer this are is huge for kayaking and they all drive out to bring boats, you can look on ukriversguidebook.co.uk it's a kayaking forum and there are often post for sharing transport to briancon?
There are a few other airport options Lyon, Grenoble, Maressille if you find out which is closest and cheapest at your end I can tell you the best option at this end.
