I've used these for a couple of seasons (standard ventex ones):

Has anyone used the other ones (kinko):

If someone has tried both would be interested to hear anyones thoughts. The ventex ones are good but they've gone quite hard and stiff now and they've lost all dexterity. Always used snoseal on them. Also the wind comes through the seams now and since the lining has bedded down they're not warm for the weight. Not bad for two years abuse but the other ones look softer from the pictures.

Not sure about the new waterproof ones, anyone used them? Presumably you're loosing more dexterity with the lining and although I'm a fan of them they do showcase the advantage of boxed finger construction and precurved fingers which you take for granted in climbing gloves.

They look like some sort of suede-like or nubuck- leather on the back. That would need loads of wax to make it smooth and more water repellant I would have thought? They look rather like pretty standard winter work gloves you can buy in many Finnish/Swedish DIY type shops, but for more than double the price. They might be superb, but it looks like you're getting away from the normal advantage of work gloves over ski/climbing gloves which is a much lower price!

Have you ever tried the Marmot work gloves? I was using my old slightly holely pair for the first time this winter last night and was thinking how much I love them. A bit more than the Venitex ones (I have paid €20 a pair twice although RRP might be €30) but they have lasted for years. http://lightfromthenorth.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/marmot-basic-work-glove-rev...

The kinkos are as Toby says just like a well made version of a leather work glove and are too cold for me to use in anything other than really god weather or as a walk in glove. I use Granger's G wax on my Venitex gloves and work it into the leather with a hairdryer for best effect. Have you seen the new http://shop.snowshepherd.co.uk/epages/es122028.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/... venitex with a waterproof liner? I've only had them out once: last week on Aonach Mor: http://alanhalewood.blogspot.co.uk/2015/11/needs-must-day-1-of-my-winter.ht... but so far have been pleased with them AND they are planning to make a version with a longer wrist cuff. They will never be as dextrous as a work glove but if the finger length works for you they are pretty good and excellent value for money for a robust all leather working glove with a waterproof and warm linings that can be cheaply reproofed until they wear out.

Thanks for that, the marmot work gloves look good and for that price probably worth trying out.

Cheers Alan, it was actually your post that got me thinking about needing to replace the ones I've got. I think the combination of thick leather and pile lining is perfect, for £30 it looks like the waterproof ones are worth a shot for the wet days. I see they've got mammut gloves at half price there as well.

Now just to try and remember what size my ventex's are...

I recently heard of these through a seasonaire friend who swears by them. He is a ski instructor and says they are fab. Better than his expensive hestra pair

Other half has just bought a pair on his recommendation.
I think i may try the mitt version too.
