Sober Pub posts?

Why do so many post serious discussions in The Pub forum that should be here ('Off Belay'). It seems odd to want some of these gems to dissapear without trace, so is there some motive I might be missing?

(I noticed Jon successfully asked the mods to rescued another one today...)

I was pondering that the other day, it could just be people being self effacing about how important/sober their thread is, I reckon.

It's reassuring to know (my) ill found opinions will be destroyed after a certain period of time. Especially when it's global politics and all of that, you never know if something you type will one day come back and bight you in the ass.
