A great documentary, if somewhat saddening.

Surprising the similarities with Nazi Germany.

Or just more reinforcement of Milgram.

Why would you dislike a documentary suggestion without an explanation?

It's probably quicker than saying 'nothing to see here' or easier than calling him an anti-semite. As per usual.

Don't be a dickhead, what's anti-Semitic about the documentary?

A film made by Jews and supported by the Jewish ministry of Culture and Sport.

If anything it shows that war is a terrible thing and should be avoided if at all possible.

This program also shows, that in war "normal" people can do things they never thought possible, and that these actions can stay with you for a long time.

Also surprising a lot of the peoples thoughts about Jerusalem now and then.

Of course you might not want to watch it any inform yourself you could always make some judgement on someone you don't know.

Obviously not, I take it you're not the disliker, then.

In which case I apologise. Typing really is no substitute for talking with people.

i don't believe he was calling you an anti semite, but saying it may be easier for the type of person that might , to dislike than speak up.

yeah yeah, it's my protective instinct taking over (I'm used to being attacked). I've already prostate my self at the alter of indignity, and of course he was probably right.

I'm a big fan of Storyville, not just this program but the series as a whole, not always cheerful viewing but nearly always informative. It would be interesting to listen to some of the old soldiers' views on what they think are the options for Israel and Palestine.

I think if anything the overwhelming message was one of sadness for the lack of peace, for both parties.

This website's also worth a look I think (certainly the organisation has a political agenda, but the testimonials are all from IDF soliders)
http://www.breakingthesilence.org.il/testimonies/database/?ci=154&tzuk=1

edit: apparently I overlapped with someone above posting the same thing!

Incidentally, at least parts of the IDF are now trying to moderate the Isreali government's position
http://www.jpost.com/Arab-Israeli-Conflict/IDF-recommends-Israel-strengthen...
(don't read the comments unless you want to be depressed). Maybe this is more a worrying sign about the stance of the current government though...

Is that anything to do with your alter ego?

I've got Gatekeeper on tape, but I've not had the gumption to watch it yet, I know I'll get angry and sad and then feel impotent (not for the first time )

I've looked at breaking the silence too, I think it very brave of them and it's a pity it doesn't get a wider audience.

Thanks for the post.

Does he need to ? when publications such as Haaretz etc.. are available in English,.

For Krikoman: http://www.haaretz.com/blogs/jerusalem-babylon/.premium-1.662003

And there is a good human rights agency , you might like. B'Tselem it is the Israel centre for human rights group in occupied territories.

It was a question and not a statement.

Does the wider audience Krikoman refers to speak modern Hebrew? Globally and in the uk it is a minorirty language.
and as I said there are a good few Israeli newspapers: and sites, that are published in English , where he could learn what Israel thinks of Breaking The Silence and the soldiers that have participated.

My question to you was an honest one "does he need to speak modern Hebrew"?

A bump is a bump
Thanks

You must watch Gatekeeper! As for being sad and angry, despite all, it could almost give you hope.
