Any thoughts on this please?! The jacket is about 8 years old. The website says they will fit a new one for about £50 plus postage at least there.

I'd second the above - unless you have another reason for wanting a new coat, it should have at least another 8 years in it. The repair service leaves it as good as new.

I got a new zip into my Mammut jacket for less by a local Polish tailor. Definitely worth repairing, we need to cut down on our resource use.

Give Aiguille in stavely a ring. They should be able to replace it and if they can I imagine they will be able to do it in an hour. Should be cheaper than £50 too
