I'm in the alps skiing over new year, conditions look pretty thin. Has anyone been down the VB recently who can give me a run down of the conditions on the upper half (down to the railway station)?

I'm not out there so can't help you first hand, but from what I've been reading, there's a fair few big holes still open. But some guides set a track down the Grand Envers last week and it looked serious!

It has been skied, so it is passable, but still not a good idea. It hasn't snowed since mid-November, so winter has yet to commence properly. A couple of big storms and 2m+ of snow needed to bring it into condition.
