Merry Christmas guys and gels.
Just out of interest, are ALL the refuges on the walkers haute route likely to be closed over winter( that's some joke, as it more like summer out here at present)
Are there any winter huts on this route that are open?
If you could kindly educate me
Thanks....

Hope this helps.

Several of the huts open for the ski touring season in early March but at the moment everything except for Mont Fort will be closed I think. You can still use the winter rooms and most are quite comfortable. All the Swiss ones have stoves and blankets. It would be tricky doing it at the moment though - worst of both worlds with not enough snow to ski low down but too much to easily walk, and very thin glacier cover.

Do you happen to know if all the huts have winter rooms? Are these winter rooms open and accessible?

It depends exactly which route you mean by "walkers haute route"...All the huts on the regular routes have open winter rooms. But at the moment skiing or snowshoeing any Cham-Zermatt route might be quite challenging!
