I have invented a new ticklist based on a new book "17 Down Under" by John & Steve Morris which list 50 classics of Grade 17 or less in Victoria.
Unfortunately, I cannot complete the list as a handful of them aren't in the climbs database and I don't have the relevant guidebooks. If anyone knows enough to add these routes to the database and let me know you've done it I can complete the ticklist. These are the missing routes:
Where Angels Fear to Tread DF (not sure if the DF is a typo) at Buffalo
Jerry Pot Direct at Cathedral Range
Afternoons at Mt Beckworth
Quartz Route at Mt Beckworth
Thousand Watts at Red Rock.

If there's any folk in Australia looking at this and they know the Morrises maybe they could be tempted to upload photos of some of these routes.

I've just uploaded a photo of Xanthene to my gallery. This is a thoroughly recommended route, well worthy of the list, but some of the Morris's choices look a bit unusual to me. Note the number of single star routes on their list; surely "classics" should be 3 star? There are plenty of them in Vic that deserve to be on the list, and as you rightly say, the list is rather biassed towards Araps.

If I ever get up to Mt Beckworth I'll add it to the database (it's in one of my guidebooks) but I tend to just keep on going to the Gramps if I'm heading out that way.

I've added the details for Quartz Route and Afternoons. The are in the 2011 Rockclimbs Around Melbourne guidebook.
