Valle di Gressoney

Hi all

I'm having problems getting any into/beta on the ice climbing routes in the Gressoney Staint Jean area of the Alps (Val D'Aosta). The UKC logbook has some info but does anyone know of a guide book or any update info on the area?

Cheers in advance

Chris

There was an old guide book to the whole of Val d'Aosta called Diamanti di Cristallo which included routes in all the side valleys including Val di Gressoney. Long out of print though. I understand there is a new guide to replace it but that it is not yet available outside Italy. The author describes it here, and I believe he will supply it by mail:

I did a route down there from the online guide 2 years ago ( Cascata di Punta Jolanda (WI-4) ), it was ok but there wasn't much in nick. I think it needs to be fat conditions around and about for that area to be good.
