Can anyone remember the name of a particular famous gulley descent? I think it was sometime in the mid 20th century, in East Asia. It ended badly, and the two British army officers leading the team got a massive bollocking for attempting it. One of them then wrote a book about it. Can't remember for the life of me what the gulley was called though. Any ideas?

That'd be Lowe's Gully I think. And I think it was more recent - 1990's? A major cock-up from beginning to end was the impression I got reading about it at the time. never read the book tho' - didn't know there was one.
