Colin Haley: Torre Egger solo selfie, 4 kbIt's all going down in Patagonia at the moment. Colin Haley and Alex Honnold have made the second ascent and first one-day ascent of the Torre Traverse in Patagonia, Argentina, in a staggering time of 20 hours and 40 minutes. This remarkable feat comes 8 years after Colin made the first ascent of the traverse over 4 days alongside Rolando Garibotti in 2008.

Go Alex you gumby! not bad for a second Alpine route, after the Fitz traverse.
In reply to UKC News:

Great feat, will be interested to find out how much Honnold was ice climbing.

Impressive stuff - all made possible by the normal Patagonian weather getting lost this year and turning up in Britain by mistake?

Is Alex Honnold actually a lizard person?

On his first foray to Patagonia (producing a stunning alpine acheivement with Tommy) he took the wrong crampons and had to borrow some. He is very very special but remember he has a lot of pressure: UKC top trumpers know Adam would be even better if he transitioned. The other 'funny' thing is how people seem less worried about him now than when he speed solos Yosemite big walls.

What a load of rubbish.

Amazing stuff by Colin and Alex. It was obviously on the cards after the last attempt, but still almost beyond belief.

Yes. Both very fit, talented and daring. Alex appears to be a very quick learner.

Reading skagit, Colin's blog, it is obvious they work as a team, utilising each others strengths. Records and record achievement only come when you get everything right.

Probably uncalled for, but such ascents are simply things of wonder, history in the making, and this is a climbing site and look at the response compared to 'top climber' naval gazing elsewhere.

I'll try harder to keep sarcasm out of my posts, especially now Rick made me smile.... yes Alex does seem to be a very quick learner.
