I'm visiting home this weekend (Ulverston) and plan to head out on Saturday night to stay in the van somewhere.

Any decent spots in the south lakes where it is:

a) okay to stay
b) picturesque - morning views would be pretty cool
c) near to a nice walk (up to 10 miles)

Any thoughts would be appreciated - thanks!

Top of Walna scar road in Coniston, heaps of options from there.

I always stay up on the Wrynose and Hardnott passes - spectacular places to wake up. Anywhere in the Lakes is near a good walk!

I've had a load of stuff nicked from a car at Walna Scar in the past. Not hugely relevant, but a consideration - I prefer to be well up in the hills when I'm camping.

East side of Coniston is always nice and super quick from Ulv.

Thanks for the replies everyone - conscious that I didn't reply!

We ended up staying at my parents as the lure of a hot meal and proper bed was too much...

Or plans changed and we ended up having a big walk in from little langdale and noticed some good van spots for next time around the wrynose pass area. It was a lovely weekend for it - beautiful weather!
