Need to get a rope for winter use. On a budget so having to think hard about this. I've figured that a dry treated, multi use rope eg Beal joker that can be used single or paired up is probably the best bet for maximum versatility. But which length?? 50 or 60m? What do most folk carry?

60 every time for winter.

It's a double rope, but I've used it as a single on easier climbs.

And for £70 it's a bargin really. Not as good as the more expensive ropes in the range ie. Handling, elongation, dry treated core etc, but for the money, it's worth it.

Or save up a bit more for a better rope

60m half ropes for winter, I use Beal ice lines, there very good imo.

I would suggest 60m ropes
These look ok if you are on a tight budget

Maybe worth considering these. You can use them as single or double ropes so lots of versatility. Also they are unicore constructed and golden dry treated.
