No match for crag id:2605

Climbed on Lurcher's on weds last week and came across this icefall - does anyone recognise it as we're struggling to figure out what route we were on.

Had the guidebook with us, but because we came in from the top we never really knew which gully was which.

We descended to the base of the Crag south of the 1010 mark on the OS map, and at the end of the climb we topped out somewhere near the 997 mark, so quite far south along the Crag.

The icefall in the picture was at the base. After this the ground turned easy for maybe 150m before hitting a small amphitheatre with steep mixed on the left and easier ground to the right corner. We reached the top in a single pitch from there.

Any ideas?

Cheers.

997 is the col at the top of South Gully, so it seems unlikely you finished near there. Your icefall looks like the one at the base of Desperate Measures 260m IV,4. Joe Omond, Will Wilkinson, Andy Porter. 2nd Jan 2009.

I was there on Thursday and saw footsteps on a ridge called Lupus (Grade III,5) - except you missed out the tech 5 bit, and they did come up from that icefall. I presume that was you.
