Thinking of doing the lake district leg of the coast to coast, St Bees to Shap over the easter holidays, does anyone know how easy or hard it is to get back to St Bees from Shap using public transport to pick up the car?

Thanks for the information, it doesn't look as bad as I was expecting, cheers.

We did this last October. Drove down from Scotland and parked in central Carlisle such that we could reach both points by train. It worked out quite well for us as the shuttle services had closed for the season. If the shuttle buses linked above were available though we would have used them. its a wonderful walk- enjoy!

In reply to davtay:

Just to say that we actually started in Kirkby Stephen and walked to Shap the first day. We camped in the site a mile south of KS. Stayed in shap in a hotel. Camped at the west side of Ullswater then a high camp west of greenup edge then hotel in Ennerdale Bridge.
