Hi folks,

A pretty mixed group of us are thinking about a week away in August. Trying to find a mix of easy sport (as in loads of 5s and 6s) and easy ish-mid grade bouldering (ideally with a good spread right through the 6s and 7s), but with conditions that will keep all happy (i.e. hide in the shade / get up early so get half decent conditions for boulders but a bit of sun in the afternoons for those less bothered by friction). Also, somewhere that's doable for a week without breaking the bank.

Was thinking Zillertal but never been and struggling to find info. Anyone been at that sort of time? Tick the boxes? Any other suggestions?

Cheers

£tztal might fit better in the grades you mention.

... look for climbs around Imst for a start.

muttekopfhütte also has something for everyone and is higher, so cooler.

I was there at the end of august last year, was pretty warm in the sun, but loads of shady bouldering in the forest areas, some of the crags get shade, or you can work your way around through the day to stay in the shade.

There is free camping up near Ewige Jagdgrunde, if your looking to keep the out goings down, but its not that big an area, and its first come first served.

Food was pretty cheep, depending where you went

Plenty of good easy routes in Ötztal, true, but the bouldering options are far more limited than Zillertal considering that the main area, Tumpen, is pretty hard core, not that extensive and has a somewhat tense access situation.
