One of my worst nights ever was when a freeze was on and it was -15 at night. On the walk up to Altanour Lodge to camp, my dog rolled in horse dung. I had to chip the wee stream with my ice axe to get to the dribble of water flowing and to top it all off I was in a Highlander -40 sleeping bag I'd picked up for bargain price of £40. It was sh*t and no way rated to -40, I could not get warm on my 4 season Karrimat and said stinking dog was pushing her way constantly onto my mat, sleeping bag and face, no matter how many times I sent her to her sleeping area that didn't have any mat. I packed everything up at 10pm, frozen right through, stinking now myself of horse dung, and walked to a keeper's house who I knew and he sent me to sleep in his garage!
Buy your dogs their own mats for goodness sake, before this happens to you!
On your OP, I personally would be wary with an xlite with dogs in the tent. I'd go for something a bit more beefy, but not as beefy as the thermarests. Perhaps one of the synmats range, or if you're flush, the downmats.
